About the EPA Forum

In spite of the advances in mental health research and care, practices in the EU Member States remain highly heterogeneous, and range from excellent to largely insufficient. Improving governance for mental health is necessary to implement comprehensive, evidence-based and rights-centered strategies for mental health care across Europe.

In line with the motto of the EPA Congress 2019, "Psychiatry in Transition – Towards New Models, Goals and Challenges", the 5th EPA Forum will address these issues and stimulate debate around the current developments in Europe (and beyond), emerging paradigms and future perspectives.

The first session will focus on examples of EU contributions to the identification of main needs and gaps in mental health research and care, as well as the identification and dissemination of best practices. The second session will address the impact of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) on the present scenario of Mental Health Policies, Research and Care.

The Forum is open to all Congress delegates.
